Okay,I've never hid the fact that I am a moron, especially when it comes to PC's.This next question though,I mean honestly,I am almost ashamed to post it...but I will because no matter how stupid anyone may think I am it would pale in comparison to my own opinions on the matter.
So here goes...
I downloaded IE7 in an effort to "update" my browser as some work applications that I access from home require it (at least they say they do).
Now as most of you already know I use two HDD's, drive C with XP64 and drive D with XP32.I use drive D for "work" and have most apps installed on this one.Drive C is reserved for gaming and that is pretty much it.
My dilemma:when I run the IE7 installer it automatically seeks out drive C,which is not the drive I want to install it on.I've tried both downloading the installer to my desktop as well as just clicking on the "run" option.Either way it still shows that it wants to head to drive C.With my very basic computer knowledge I have had no success in changing this setting and won't even begin to say I know what to do from here.I am not well versed in using the command prompt/run routine and openly admit once more that yes, I am a moron.
If any of you kind tyrants have some suggestions or advice I would greatly appreciate it.
On another note,I've been getting ready to purchase Windows 7.If I did so I would keep my other two OS's of course and would just add a third HDD for the new OS.No real reasons why I want Windows 7 other than the "want" of course as the old PC has been doing okay for the most part.
Has anyone switched over to or used Windows 7 yet?Is it worth purchasing?
I'm still trying to figure out if running different OS's hasn't been some sort of problem for my rig,in one way or another.I would have gladly ran with the XP Pro 64 but much to my chagrin at the time, there were still a good deal of programs that would not run on a 64bit OS...something I found quite odd and aggravating at the same time.It was for this reason that I had to install XP 32.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. With my brain being filled with all of the wonderful "management" duties I've inherited I think the gray matter has finally been overloaded.Attempting to figure out my PC and it's inner workings is the last thing my mind is capable of contemplating at this point in time and besides,IMO you guys are way more knowledgable in this area than myself.
Oh,before signing off I shall update all of you...still working as a Service Manager;hired two and fired four so far;upper management/dealer owner doesn't know shit about running a dealership (the owner is a car salesman who came into money, nothing more, and seems to manage to fit about eight different faces on that tiny bald head of his);people still suck...especially when you are trying to take their money! But I am still "happy" to be back to work and I am still keeping my fingers crossed for those of you who have found yourselves in a similar position recently. It is most definitely a job where you get none of the glory, none of the gold, and all of the responsibility.I remeber aspiring to go from the trenches of the garage floor to the office of manager. Now I wonder what the hell I was thinking back then.
Later all. |
